PDX Kehilla High is in becoming as a new space for Jewish Teens to gather and learn together.
One core offering at PDX Kehilla High is the JEWISH LEARNING EXPERIENCE (JLE).
JLE was brought to Greater Portland by Rabbi Gary Ezra Oren at Congregation Shaarie Torah in collaboration with the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland, Oregon Jewish Community Fund and Portland Jewish Academy.
JLE - How it Works:
01
Students Meet Requirements for the AJU
Student is currently enrolled in grades 9-12 at their high school and have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 GPA or higher achieved, verified by school transcripts.
02
Student is connected to Jewish Community
Current member “in good standing” with their participating community - through a synagogue, camp, school, etc. If you are not currently connected we can help with that.
03
Register with AJU registrar
This is done online with a registration link sent to you from PDX Kehilla High. Registration fee is $1,300 paid to the AJU. Scholarships are available through the AJU and our local Jewish Community.
04
Start Learning
Join us this Fall with a willingness to learn about Jewish history, culture, and religion. Students should be open to learning and growing and should have a positive attitude and be willing to work hard.
"The Jewish Learning Experience has given me the opportunity to deepen my knowledge of my faith and culture like never before. The innovative approach to learning has made Jewish studies exciting and relevant to my life."
